So often in life when we are focused on achieving a goal, something that we feel will change our lives, we have tunnel vision to the destination. No matter how many times we are reminded to stop and smell the roses, when we really want to be anywhere other than where you are right now, we run forward not wanting to stop in fear that if we do, we might not be able to pick up and keep going.
Terremoona (Terre) Douglas knows how it feels to want to be somewhere different in life. She knows how it feels to want to be somebody different and when she joined the Studio Republic team she was, like many of our female clients anxious and nervous:
“that voice in my head was still there questioning am I good enough, am I pretty enough?”
When Terre stepped in the studio, she had already walked a long path, however, even though her journey is not over, she decided that it was time to smell the roses and celebrate what she had achieved. Reaching the halfway milestone on her health and weight loss journey, Terre decided it was time to spoil herself for her birthday, believing that having a shoot might help her build confidence and continue to motivate her forward.
At 57 years young, it is refreshing to see a woman stand in her worth and own her journey. To say I am worth this, I am worth celebrating. Terre opted for a mixture of casual and sexy poses, wanting to document her journey and have a keepsake reminder of the woman she is and the woman she can be.
“I feel so good about myself! I see myself differently and I can see how much I have changed. I can look sexy, I look good and I can dress up and be girly with makeup.”
When asked what self-confidence means to her, Terre said “The ability to do something. Outside your comfort zone and feel good about it. Be happy with it. Be happy with you.”
Getting in front of the camera, being free in herself and smiling. Terre Douglas at 57 is the definition of self-confidence and as she continues on her journey, she is walking big and celebrating every single step.
